Grape variety: Barbera 100%

The bunches are medium and compact the shape is cylindrical-pyramidal. The raisins are rather big of a blue-blackish colour.



Vineyards location: Bric del Pin in the village of Santa Vittoria d’Alba. Sorì of Barbera; vineyard partially terraced to contrast the steep slope and consequently favour the transit of small tractors and stop the flowing of the water. The soil is mostly composed by marl with South East exposition.

Cultivation of the vineyard: the vines are grown with Guyot (VSP trellised) system.

Harvest: the grapes are collected by hand with accurate selection of the bunches. Usually between the end of September and the beginning of October.

Vinification: the grapes just harvested, arrive in the winery, where they are soft pressed. The traditional fermentation is conducted in stainless steel thermo-conditioned tanks. Maceration lasts for around 8-10 days during which the wine is regularly recycled from the bottom to the top of the tank, to optimize the extraction on the polyphenols. The wine is then briefly aged in stainless steel tanks before the bottling.

Alcohol degrees: 13,5 – 14% vol.

Colour: the colour is intense ruby-red with purple shades, tending to garnet red when aged.

Nose: the fragrance is clear and full with hints of wild roses and currant. The bouquet is intensely vinous, reminding of the the gurgle of the vats during the fermentation in the harvest time.

Taste: the taste is full and rich, with good body, pleasant and harmonious.

Serving temperature: 18 – 20 °C.

Food matches: it pairs well with dishes like: Coniglio arrosto (roasted rabbit), Fritto, Bollito misto and hard pasted cheeses.
It expresses its best with the following dishes: Coniglio con peperoni (rabbit with capsicums), Polenta with codfish and onions, Broad beans minestrone, Lingua al giardino and Bruss.
